Charles Wysocki is an American painter. His paintings depict the real American. Most of his images were outdoor, often with horses and donkeys. According to what I saw online, most of his artwork for puzzles was licensed with Buffalo games. I believe there are 140 different Wysocki puzzles. I may be wrong, but that’s what I found in my research. Again, mostly American scenes, but he also has a strange cat in his collection.

I would say Wysocki is one of the most famous puzzle artists out there. People who like his work, really like it, and will collect it. Others did not fully admire his work. I realize there’s an extreme in this. You love them or you hate them. I finished his five puzzles and I can appreciate them. Do I love them? Nope. But — there is a comfort in the familiarness of the images. They have their own style. They’re very similar. After a while, you can read a Danielle Steel, Nora Roberts, or John Grym and they’re all the same. They changed the location and changed the name, the same idea. That’s how I feel about Wysocki. You know what you’re gonna get. You can always recognize a Wysocki puzzle. I also like them easily completed. There is a simple aspect of Wysocki puzzle. I just finished 2 – Dampy Donuts on Dreary and Sugar & Spice. If you are interested, the latter will be certified.

I asked online about what people thought of his artwork — and I got about 80 answers to my question.

Some would only do a Wysocki if they were given the puzzle. They won’t buy it, but they will. Some people do that as breaking between puzzles are harder because they’re easy or if they really like the image. Some don’t like them at all. It’s like anything.

At the end of the day, I found that more people loved Charles Wysocki than they did not. And that makes sense, because he’s famous.

If you are a folk art, simple images and history, you will like Charles Wysocki. It’s a good option if you want a comforting image. Beer Break and Moonlight and Roses are on my list of wishes.
